There are minerals such as calcium and magnesium that are naturally present in most water supplies. The accumulation of these minerals may cause the build up of scale. Scale is the sediment boiled out of water that eventually coats the internal brewing components of any coffee or espresso machine.
Removing this scale, a process described as descaling, is critical to the long life of your machine. To ensure total care of your machine, always use bottled water and carry out the descaling process every 3 months.
The descaling kit contains two 100ml sachets of liquid and 1 tester, which will help indicate how hard your water is. The harder the water, the more frequently one must carry out the descaling process.
